Dear Pam,
Yesterday I finally got some quiet time alone and I listened to your tape. Pam, it is a beautiful piece of work. I was completely spellbound. I was trying to paint some woodwork in the bathroom while I listened, and I just had to to stop painting so I could listen, laugh, and cry.
You have the most wonderful blend of humor, poignancy, innocence, and bodaciousness in that set of stories. They flow and weave together in a totally fresh and evocative way. I truly felt your presence there in the room (bathroom ... remember, I was trying to paint) with me. You materialized as an eight-year old right on up to a mama of three girls.
Your telling feels so natural and spontaneous, not at all nervous or stained glassy. I loved it so much, when it was over, I put down my brush, closed my paint can, and went to find Dennis so he could listen to it the second time with me. He loved it as much as I did. We agree, you're brilliant!
Pam, I can only warn you to get about 3 more hours of stories like these ready, because ... it's just a matter of time until the world discovers you....I'm going to spread the good news about one of the finest natural-born storytellers I know -- YOU!" - Barbara McBride-Smith, Tulsa, OK
